“Menassah” Elevates Emirati Literature with 5,000 Selections

by | Sep 18, 2023 | News

Menassah proudly presents an exciting development for the School Book Fair, a community-driven endeavour aimed at fostering a reading culture among students as they embark on the 2023-2024 academic year. Launched by the Emirates Publishers Association, Menassah is dedicated to promoting Emirati publishers and their literary works at both local and international book fairs.

This initiative is designed to fortify the presence of Emirati literary creations among young readers, offering them affordable access to these books during the fair. Collaborating with 70 local publishing houses, Menassah is set to showcase an impressive collection of around 5,000 books, encompassing 500 unique titles. These literary gems will be featured across four exhibitions hosted by nine participating schools in Sharjah throughout September.

Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the EPA, expressed the association’s unwavering commitment to strengthening partnerships with schools and educational institutions. They aim to initiate community programs that instill a passion for reading in the next generation and seamlessly integrate it into their daily lives. The commencement of the new school year presents an ideal opportunity to achieve this objective. As part of this initiative, a generous 15% discount will be offered on all books showcased at the school book fairs, making these valuable resources more accessible to students.

Al Kous underscored that this initiative aligns perfectly with the ongoing efforts of the Emirates Publishers Association to support local publishers, institutions, and individuals by creating additional platforms for showcasing and promoting their publications, thereby generating both financial and moral benefits.

The first exhibition commenced on September 4th at Khalifa Al-Hamza American School, Al-Shuala Private School, and Al-Sidra Private School Kalba; it ran until September 7th. The second exhibition was scheduled at Al-Durrah International Schools and PACE British School from September 11 to 14, and the third exhibition took place from September 18 to 21 at GEMS Westminster School and Al Maarifa International Private School. The initiative will conclude with its fourth exhibition at Al Ansar International and Al Itqan American Schools Sharjah from September 25 to 28.
